The <sub> tag and the <sup> tag

The sub tag causes the enclosed text to be rendered as a subscript. The text is lowered by half a character's height, in the same font size as the surrounding text.
The sup tag renders the enclosed text as a superscript. The text is raised by half a character's height, in the same font size as the surrounding text.
